Choosing steel storage
Decide what goes inside before you pick a carcass, because a Qube cupboard is really a shell you fit out. Suspension files need a lateral or roll out filing frame and box files want a plain shelf at a taller pitch, so count what you have and add a shelf's worth of growth. A side tambour is better in a corridor, since the shutter slides sideways instead of swinging into the walkway, and the Qube steel storage page lists the frames for each shell.
For personal storage, a tall locker suits a shift pattern or a hot desking floor where nobody keeps a fixed drawer, which the lockers page covers. Under a desk, a mobile pedestal is more useful than a fixed one because it moves when the layout does, and steel copes better than laminate on a hard floor. Anything really heavy belongs on shelving rather than in a cupboard, and a loaded filing unit needs clear floor in front of the drawer swing.
