What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Websites also use similar technologies such as local storage, which works in much the same way. We use the word "cookies" on this page to cover both.
Cookies let a site remember things between page loads, such as what is in your basket and whether you are signed in. They can also be used to measure how a site is used, or to support advertising.
Your choices
When you first visit us you are asked to choose. You can Accept all, which allows every category below; Reject all, which allows only the strictly necessary cookies; or Manage preferences, which lets you turn individual categories on or off.
Nothing in the non-essential categories is set unless you agree to it. Rejecting them does not stop you shopping and does not restrict any part of the site.
You can change your choice whenever you like using the Cookie preferences link in the footer of every page. You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings, although if you block the strictly necessary ones the basket and checkout will stop working.
Strictly necessary cookies
These make the site work. They cannot be switched off, and they do not need your consent because the site could not function without them.
sessionId keeps your session with our order system, so your basket and sign-in survive page loads. Set by our platform. Lasts until you close your browser, or up to 30 days.
orbit_currency_code remembers the currency the site is displayed in. Lasts up to 1 year.
orbit_store_id identifies which store you are browsing, so the right catalogue and prices load. Stored in local storage. Lasts until you clear your browser data.
orbit_session_id and orbit_visitor_id link the pages of one visit together so the basket works and abuse can be spotted. Stored in local storage. Lasts until you clear your browser data.
Your consent choice remembers the answer you gave the cookie banner, so we do not ask again on every page. Lasts up to 1 year.
Functional cookies
Optional. These remember preferences that make the site more convenient, such as recently viewed products. Off unless you turn them on.
Analytics cookies
Optional. These would tell us which pages are used and where people give up, so we can improve the site. All data would be aggregated and anonymous. Off unless you turn them on.
Marketing cookies
Optional. These would be used to measure advertising and to show you relevant ads on other sites. Off unless you turn them on.
What we are not doing
As at the date at the top of this page, this website loads no third-party analytics and no advertising or tracking scripts at all. Nothing in the Functional, Analytics or Marketing categories is currently in use, whichever way you answer the banner.
We have listed those categories because we may add tools in future, for example to advertise on Google. If we do, this page will be updated to name the provider and say what its cookies do before anything is set, and the banner will keep them blocked until you agree.
Services that run the site
Two services are involved in delivering these pages, neither of which is advertising or analytics.
Orbit Commerce, the ecommerce platform this website runs on. It provides the session and store cookies listed above and hosts the site.
A content delivery network and an error-reporting service, both operated as part of that platform, which serve images and record technical errors so faults can be fixed. These process technical data such as your IP address only to deliver the site reliably.
Managing cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you view, delete and block cookies through its settings. Look for the privacy or site-data section of your browser's settings, or its help pages, for instructions. Blocking all cookies will stop the basket and checkout working on this and most other shopping sites.
More information
How we handle personal information more generally, including your rights and how to complain, is covered in our
