Choosing an executive chair
Start with how many hours the chair is sat in. A high back with a headrest suits someone who spends the day on calls and leans back to think, while a medium back like the Xenon tucks under a desk more easily. Check the seat depth against the person, not the room: if the front edge presses into the back of the knees, the chair is too deep and padding will not fix it. The tilt tension dial is the control nobody touches, though setting it to your weight stops the recline feeling either locked solid or loose.
The usual mistake is buying on looks and then finding the arms will not go under the desk. Measure the clearance beneath your desk top against the top of the arm at its lowest setting. Bonded leather wipes clean, fabric feels warmer over a long day, and mesh keeps air moving in a room that faces south. For all day use by a larger user, heavy duty chairs is the better place to start.
What to put around it
Settle the desk at the same time, since a deeper chair needs clearance behind it, easy to forget where a desk with matching storage sits against the back wall. For a boardroom, choose the meeting table first and let the seat width tell you how many chairs fit, then add visitor and conference chairs for the far side.
