A desktop screen does two jobs at once: it stops people staring straight at each other across a bench and it soaks up a little of the chatter that would otherwise carry across the room. The choice here is small and practical, with SCH! acoustic desktop screens in oblong, rectangle and wave shapes, the Air desktop screen and Impulse straight screens at 400mm high, and the Evolve and Impulse Plus bench screen made to sit between two tops on a bench run. Taller and floor standing options live in desktop and acoustic screens.
Height, fixing and the desk you already have
Start with the fixing. Desktop screens clamp to the back or side edge of a top, so they need a straight edge of the right thickness and clear access underneath, which is where a scalloped edge or a fixed pedestal gets in the way. Bench screens are different: they drop between two tops and are held by the run itself, tidier but only on the system they were made for.
Then decide what the screen is for. At 400mm high it sits above the desk top and breaks the eye line between two seated people without walling anyone in, which suits an open plan floor that should still feel open. For sound, a soft faced acoustic screen does more than a hard laminate one, though a screen at desk height works on nearby conversation rather than noise from across the office. If the room as a whole is loud, treat the walls and ceiling too with acoustic solutions.
Matching the rest of the desking
Buying for a bench run? Take the screens from the same family as the desks. The Evolve Plus bench collection and the wider bench desking pages show which frames accept which screens, and Impulse Plus screens carry the taller versions. Pick the SCH! acoustic collection if the desk screens should match panels elsewhere in the room.

Screens are among the easier things to fit yourself, provided the brackets match the top. Send a photo of the desk edge from underneath and we will tell you which type will grip it. Call 01473 464644 with the desk sizes and we will work out how many the room needs.
