Evolve Plus is bench desking, which means several people share one continuous top and one set of legs instead of each having a separate desk. It begins with a single starter bench and grows: single row benches for two or three people, back to back benches for four, and extension kits that bolt on when someone new joins. Cable work is part of the same family, with telescopic trays and middle leg infills shared with the Impulse frame, and there is a 1600mm square boardroom table extension kit too. If you are still comparing formats, bench desking and desks and workstations set out the alternatives.
Planning an Evolve Plus run
Bench runs are built from a starter plus extensions, and getting that arithmetic right is most of the job. The starter carries a leg at each end, and every extension shares the leg of the run before it, so four people on a single row means one starter and extensions, not four separate desks pushed together.
Then choose between single row and back to back. Back to back seats twice as many people in the same wall length and puts the cable tray down the middle where both sides reach it, though people end up facing each other unless you fit a screen. A single row against a wall is calmer and easier to power, but uses more wall. The mistake we see most is a run specified to the exact millimetre with no allowance for skirting, a radiator or pipe boxing.
Power, screens and storage
Bench desking works best when the power is planned, so pair the run with in-desk power modules and the trays and clips in cable management instead of trailing extension leads. Add desktop and bench screens where people sit face to face, pedestals and drawers for storage that moves as the layout changes, and a seat each from task and operator chairs.

Office Masters is the online arm of Neil Andrew Office Solutions, a family business at Edison Close on Ransomes Europark in Ipswich. Neil joined his father Malcolm's firm in the 1980s and relaunched under his own name in 2017, and the team has put bench runs into offices and studios in Bury St Edmunds, Haverhill and Colchester. Free UK mainland delivery takes about five working days.
Bench desking is the format we would most strongly suggest letting someone else build: the legs must be square and level before the tops go on. Send the wall measurements, or call 01473 464644, and we will tell you how many people the room really holds.
