Reception and breakout seating built for a working building rather than a living room. The Mawsley modular system is the flexible end of it, with 90 degree inner, outer and backless curved units that wrap seating round a corner or form an island mid floor. For a more settled look there is the Lamport armchair and sofa, the Etta dark grey cashmere lounge chair and the Lulu accent chair, all of which sit happily beside a Neo round table with a black or glass top.
Choosing soft seating for a reception
Measure the walkway first, not the sofa. A reception needs a clear route from the door to the desk and a second route past the seating, and a deep three seater eats that space quickly. Two armchairs facing a low table often seat the same number of visitors in half the footprint, which is why the Lulu and Etta chairs get specified so often. In an odd shaped room, modular seating lets you build to the wall you have got.
Think about how long people sit. Visitors are there for ten minutes, so a firmer seat that is easy to rise from beats a deep lounge cushion, and a slightly higher seat height helps anyone in a suit. Breakout is the opposite and can take the softer sofas and armchairs. Fabric grade matters more than colour: a contract fabric in a mid tone hides marks in a way pale plain weave never will.
Tables, booths and the rest of the space
Most receptions want a low table within reach of every seat, which is what the reception tables and seating and breakout and shaped tables pages are for. If people take calls in the open, a privacy booth or pod stops the whole waiting area listening in, and the compact Studio soft seating range suits smaller lobbies.
Reception seating fitted in Ipswich, Colchester and beyond
We are Office Masters, the shop side of Neil Andrew Office Solutions, a family run firm on Ransomes Europark in Ipswich that goes back to the business Neil's father Malcolm started in the 1980s. Soft seating is one of the things we prefer to install ourselves, because modular curves need setting out on the floor before anyone commits, and we do that in Colchester, Stowmarket, Woodbridge and Bury St Edmunds as well as across the rest of Suffolk and Essex.
Send a floor plan, or even a sketch with the door and desk marked, and we will lay the units out for you. Free UK mainland delivery takes five working days, a next working day upgrade is there if the opening date has moved, and pre-build with installation means the boxes never reach your lobby. Ring 01473 464644 if you would rather talk it through.
