A small, focused corner of the reception range built around the Neo round table: a black framed low table for a waiting area, and a glass top sold on its own if you already have the base or want to replace a damaged one. A round low table suits a reception because there is no corner to catch a hip on as people squeeze past. Pair it with pieces from soft seating and reception to make a complete area.
Choosing a reception table
Height and spacing make a waiting area comfortable. A low table should sit at roughly seat height or a little below, so a visitor can put a cup down without leaning forward off the seat. Leave about 400mm between the front of the seats and the edge of the table: any closer and people cannot get past, any further and they cannot reach. Round tops suit tight lobbies where a rectangle forces everything into a line, and a black frame with a glass top disappears in a small space.
Think about what the table is for. If visitors wait five minutes, something small for a magazine and a coffee is plenty. If they work while they wait, or reception doubles as an informal meeting spot, you want a taller table and a chair with proper support, which is where bistro and cafe tables and cafe and bistro seating beat a low lounge set. Glass cleans easily but shows every fingerprint, so somebody has to wipe it daily.
Building the rest of the area
Seating is the other half of the job. Sofas and armchairs give a settled, calm feel, modular seating lets you shape a bench around an awkward wall, and Studio soft seating suits a more contemporary space. If the room hosts interviews, visitor and conference chairs are easier to sit upright in. The whole reception section is worth a look, and a coat stand by the door keeps things tidy.
Reception furniture in Ipswich and across East Anglia
Office Masters is the online side of Neil Andrew Office Solutions, a family run business on Edison Close at Ransomes Europark in Ipswich. It began with Neil's father Malcolm in the 1980s and has run under Neil's own name since 2017. The furniture we supply and install for offices across Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk is here with a checkout on it, and UK mainland delivery is free within five working days.
Reception is the room clients see first, so we are happy to help with the layout rather than just drop off boxes. We deliver and fit in Ipswich, Woodbridge, Colchester, Chelmsford and Haverhill. Send a photo of the space with a rough width and depth, or ring 01473 464644 and we will suggest what fits without crowding the door.
