Mawsley is a build it yourself seating system rather than a finished sofa. The pieces are 90 degree inner, outer and backless curved units, corner units, right and left end units, D ends and central backless benches, plus a ready made circular booth set if you would rather not work it out yourself. Bolt them together and you get a snake through an atrium or a straight run down a corridor wall, all in the same fabric. Planning a Mawsley layout
Sketch the shape on the floor plan before you count units. Inner curves turn tightly and take less space, while outer curves swing wide and want a good metre of clearance behind them. Backless units let two people sit back to back and read as lighter, so alternate them with backed units when a long run starts to feel like a wall. Leave a gap every few units too, so nobody shuffles past six seats to get out.
Then decide what the seating is really for. In a waiting area, backed units with a breakout table within reach are what people actually use. As a working perch it needs power, so a soft seating module from the in desk power range nearby saves laptops dying mid morning. Two tone upholstery is worth considering on a big run, since a single colour across ten units looks heavy, and darker seats hide wear.

Mawsley usually shares a space with other pieces. Harlestone stools in square, curved and rectangular shapes fill the middle of a circle, sofas and armchairs suit the quieter corner, and acoustic solutions overhead stop a hard floored atrium ringing.
