Modular seating is soft seating you build rather than buy in one piece. The Mawsley range breaks down into central units, left and right end units, corner units, D-end units and ninety degree curved sections in inner, outer and backless versions, so you can run a bench along a wall, turn a corner, or close the whole thing into a circular booth. Backless units seat people both sides of the same run, which is why they suit receptions. If you would rather buy a finished shape, sofas and armchairs and the rest of soft seating cover that, while Mawsley modular seating lists every unit individually.
Planning a modular layout
Draw the run to scale first, because modular seating grows quickly once curves are involved. A ninety degree curved unit eats far more floor than a straight one of the same seat count, and inner and outer curves are not interchangeable: one faces into the circle, the other away from it, and the wrong choice leaves a gap you cannot close. Chalking the shape on the floor is a five minute job that saves real grief later.
Leave walking room. People need to get past without turning sideways, and a seated person's knees take more space than the footprint suggests. Decide on power early too, since a breakout nobody can charge a laptop in tends to sit empty. If what you really need is somewhere quiet for calls, look at privacy booths and pods first.
Tables and the rest of the breakout
Most runs want somewhere to put a cup, and low breakout and shaped tables sit better beside a low seat than a standard height table; if people eat there, bistro and cafe tables are kinder on the back. The Brixworth collection is another take on the same idea, and soft seating and reception gathers the pieces that need to look smart from the door.
Modular seating for Ipswich, Colchester and further afield
Office Masters is the web shop of Neil Andrew Office Solutions, a family run company on Edison Close at Ransomes Europark in Ipswich. Neil learned the trade in his father Malcolm's business in the 1980s and relaunched it under his own name in 2017. The team supplies and installs across Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk, from schools in Sudbury to offices in Colchester and Norwich, with free UK mainland delivery in about five working days.
A big configuration arrives as separate units and is a two person job to connect, so pre build and installation is worth having when the run goes into a live reception. Unsure how many units fill your wall? Send a floor plan with the measurements marked, or ring 01473 464644.
