Choosing a fabric task chair
Get the mechanism right first. A basic lever seat raises, lowers and tilts, which is plenty for somebody at a desk two hours a day. Anyone sitting for six or more wants synchro tilt, where the back reclines further than the seat, plus proper lumbar support. Medium backs suit most desks. Go to ergonomic and posture chairs if there is a back problem to work around, and check the user against the gas lift, since very tall and very short people often need a different stroke.
Arms are the decision people rush. Fixed arms cost less but can stop a chair tucking under a shallow desk, so measure the clearance under your top first, especially on a cantilever leg desk with a beam beneath it.
