Choosing the right tray or spine
Match the part to the desk, then to the cable load. A basket or tray under the desktop carries the extension block and the slack, while a spine takes the bundle from desk height down to the floor. For a sit-stand desk you need a spine that flexes and travels with the frame, because a rigid one either strains at full height or coils badly at the bottom. Fixed height desks are more forgiving and a plain deep tray usually does.
On a bench run the back to back trays are the ones to have, since two people share one route and one power feed. Measure before you buy, because a telescopic tray adjusts but a fixed tray sized for a 1400mm desk will not span 1600mm. What else tidies a desk
Cabling is only half the job. Put the sockets where people can reach them with an in-desk power module, look through cable management and electrical for the wider choice of modules and grommets, and free up desktop space with a monitor arm. Desks with routing already built into the leg are in cable managed desks, and the smaller desktop odds and ends sit in office accessories.
