Single sit-stand desks with electric columns, built around the Air range. The Air Lite covers the everyday options with cable ports, slimline tops and a scalloped front edge, the Oslo Air pairs a white top with a natural wood edge, and the Black Ice and the Air Black Series slimline with its steel modesty panel go darker. A motorised column changes height in seconds, which is the point: a desk that takes effort to raise never gets raised. See the full Air sit-stand collection or the wider height-adjustable desks.
Choosing a sit-stand desk
Size first. A 1200mm or 1400mm top suits a laptop and one screen, while 1600mm and 1800mm take two monitors and paperwork side by side. Depth is usually 800mm, and it matters more here than on a fixed desk because a screen sitting too close feels far worse standing up. Check the column travel as well: standing height for most adults lands around 1050mm to 1200mm at the desktop, so if you are tall, read the maximum rather than assuming.
The mistake is treating it as a desk that lives up high. Standing all day tires you as much as sitting, so most people settle into short spells morning and afternoon and the chair still matters, which makes an ergonomic or posture chair a fair partner. Watch the cables, since every raise pulls more slack. For two desks nose to nose, the back-to-back sit-stand desks share a frame and use less floor.
What to order alongside
A moving desktop changes what goes on and under it. A screen on an arm from monitor arms and desk accessories stays at eye level through the whole travel, and the cables want a route, which is what the cable management and electrical trays and spines are for. Underneath, choose a mobile unit from pedestals and drawers rather than a fixed one.

Office Masters is the shop side of Neil Andrew Office Solutions, a family-run company at Edison Close, Ransomes Europark, Ipswich. Neil learned the trade in his father Malcolm's business in the 1980s and relaunched it under his own name in 2017. We still do the unglamorous half ourselves, delivering and building desks in offices around Ipswich, Woodbridge, Felixstowe, Bury St Edmunds and over into Colchester.
These are the desks most worth having installed: the columns are heavy, the frames need squaring before the top goes on, and the handset must be initialised before the memory settings work. Free standard delivery covers the UK mainland in five working days, a next working day upgrade is available, and pre-build and installation can be added.
