Bench desks where two rows face each other on one shared frame and every position raises and lowers on its own. The Air back-to-back comes as two, four and six person runs, with slimline and scalloped edge tops, and the Oslo Air version brings the wood edge look to the same layout. Against buying pairs of single height-adjustable desks, a bench run uses fewer legs and noticeably less floor.
Choosing a back-to-back bench run
Count positions, then measure the aisle. A six person run is long, and people need room to push a chair back on both sides, so settle the circulation space before you settle on the size. Each position is usually 1200mm, 1400mm or 1600mm wide, and mixing widths within one run is rarely worth the trouble. Bear in mind that a raised desk on one side puts a monitor at standing height in the eyeline of whoever is still seated opposite.
That eyeline is exactly what desktop and bench screens are for, and on a sit-stand bench they need enough height to still do something when one side stands up. Power is the other planning job. On a bench run everything should come up through the desk rather than trail off to a wall socket, so specify in-desk power modules and enough cable management to take up the slack through the full travel of the frame.
