Everything anyone in an office sits on lives here: the Tutti mesh task chair somebody occupies for eight hours, the Zure, Vegas and Xenon executive chairs behind a director's desk, visitor chairs for the other side of it, stools for standing height benches and sofas for the breakout corner. Most of the volume sits in office chairs and seating, split between task and operator chairs built for a full day and executive chairs with a taller back and heavier base.
Choosing office seating
Start with hours in the seat. Anything used more than four hours a day needs seat height, back height and a lockable tilt at minimum, ideally with adjustable arms so elbows rest level with a 730mm desk top. Chairs built that way, like the Tutti and Victor II, earn their money because people keep fiddling until they fit. The usual mistake is one specification for the whole building, then finding the accounts team live in theirs while the meeting room chairs sit under a table all week.
Then back type and covering. Mesh, as on the Vegalite and Zure, moves air and suits warm south facing rooms, which is why mesh office chairs win upstairs with big windows. Fabric hides light marks, leather wipes clean and reads more formal. A chair on a long gas lift is not the same as a draughtsman stool with a footring, and perching at counter height with nowhere for your feet gets uncomfortable fast.
What to buy alongside
Seating only works when the desk suits it, so size chairs and desks and workstations together and check arm height against the top. Front of house wants something softer, which is soft seating and reception, and interview rooms need visitor and conference chairs that line up neatly. When a chair is sound but sagging on the lift, chair spares and parts often keeps it going.
